Hot on the heels of Maybelline featuring Manny MUA as it’s first male product spokesperson, L’Oreal Paris just scored another huge point for diversity in 2017! During the Golden Globes, the first commercial for the “True Match” foundation campaign called “Your Skin, Your Story” was aired. It featured a diverse group of actors, models and influencers wearing one of the 33 shades of their foundation. The brand’s global spokeswoman, Blake Lively, appeared heavily pregnant and included other models Lara Stone, Alexina Graham, and Xiao Wen Ju. Although it also included plus-size models Sabina Karlsson and Marquita Pring, it was the inclusion of transgender model and activist Hari Nef that really stole the show.
L’Oreal has previously used a transgender model in a campaign in Brazil however this is the first time such a model has been featured in the US. This campaign has received applaud from the industry and fans alike for the scope of diversity being supported in it. This is a great start to the year and lets hope that it just gets better!
